Water Softeners- Cure Your Health

Eczema is prevalent among a large proportion of the population and the following study was conducted to examine the health benefits of soft water and whether or not using water softeners could help relieve symptoms of eczema. It's important to note that 'hard water' contains calcium and magnesium and that the process of softening water involves 'ion exchange', a process in which Ca and Mg are removed from the water.

Hard water tends to leave 'limescale' behind because of how magnesium and calcium react with soap. This can block pipes and is often seen at the bottom of kettles.

The study focussed on children of primary school age and measured the following main variables:

    * Eczema severity of eczema among the subjects
    * Sleep loss and itchiness
    * Health-related quality of life

After 12 weeks, the groups showed no real sign of improvement, with results showing that those using a water softener improved by 20%, while those without one improved by 22%. Interestingly, though, some parents noticed that their children who used the water softening device noticed an improvement in general health and well-being. It is very important to use some water softeners for your household, otherwise the water impurities will surely prove to be harmful.
